Bot Template, Auto Update

This feature is particularly useful for partners who want to install and control the templates for their clients, as well as restore templates from their white label workspace.

Node limit

A master template supports up to 2,000 nodes in total. Very large templates may need to be split into several smaller templates in order to stay within this limit.

Selective update

When you update a master template, you can choose to update only specific parts of the template instead of everything at once. The components that can be updated selectively include:

• SubFlows (main flow)
• AI Agents
• AI Tasks
• Fields (contact/bot)
• Triggers
• Sequences
• Keywords
• URL triggers

This lets you, for example, update only the AI Agents of a template without touching the subflows the client has already customized in each workspace.

Creating a template in NicoChat

Inside your workspace dashboard, click My Templates/Apps and then Bot Templates. Click +New Template to start creating a template.

Select the channel that will be the source for the template.

Select the type of subflow you want to create the template from.

Select the subflows you want to include in the template.

Enter the relevant details and enable the Auto Update feature.

After creating the template, copy the installation link and install the template in another workspace.

Updating templates in NicoChat

After installation, click Flows and open the folder that contains the template subflows.

Users can make these subflows editable by detaching them from the master template.

Go back to the source workspace, which contains the master template. Edit the subflow and make an update to it.

After updating the subflow, go back to the templates in the My Templates/Apps tab, in the workspace dashboard.

Click Update Flows and select the updated subflow (or the specific components you want to update, as described in the selective update section above), following the instructions described previously.

Once the template has been updated successfully, go back to the workspace where you installed the template and look at the template subflows. They should now reflect the updates we rolled out in the master template.

Use cases for auto update

There can be several use cases for this feature. It is particularly useful for partners who want to install templates for their clients and update them later. To do that, they only need to update the master template.

Another use case is when you delete or lose subflows in the workspace that were part of the template: when you update the master template, the deleted subflows are restored, because the update reinstalls the template in the workspace and, with that, all flows are restored.
