Connecting Your Custom Domain - NicoPartners
By default, NicoChat lets you use a free Cloudflare account to set up your custom domain, since Cloudflare offers free SSL that you can use.
If you do not want to use Cloudflare to manage your custom domain, you will need to contact support. We can help you set up SSL for your custom domain, but there will be additional costs for that setup.
If you plan to use Cloudflare to manage your domain, here is a tutorial for migrating your domain to their platform: Transfer your domain to Cloudflare · Cloudflare Registrar Documentation
DNS setup in Cloudflare
After migrating your domain to Cloudflare, you need to go to the DNS settings and add an A record:
- If your domain is ABC.com and you want your custom domain to point to chatbot.abc.com, type chatbot in the Name field (use
@if it is the root domain). - The A record must point to the IP address
45.76.126.32. - Leave the record as DNS only (grey cloud) — turn off Cloudflare's orange proxy if the pointing does not work after you add the domain.
SSL/TLS setup in Cloudflare
Next, go to the SSL/TLS settings and set the SSL encryption mode to Flexible.
Once all the settings are complete, you will need to wait a few hours for the DNS to propagate. After that, your custom domain will be reachable with a free SSL certificate.
Checking DNS propagation
Alternatively, you can check the propagation status externally, on the site below:
Enter the full name of your custom domain, select type A and wait until all the checks turn green. That means the DNS has propagated correctly and, when you access your custom domain, it will be working with SSL enabled.
