WooCommerce

WooCommerce is now one of the leading options for anyone who has or wants to open an online store and fulfill orders through it.

NicoChat supports WooCommerce integration natively, along with all the actions that the current WooCommerce API supports in its endpoints.

With NicoChat you not only create automations for your WooCommerce store, but also create, edit and update orders, fulfill them and keep track of orders, shipments, reviews and so on.

Integrating your WooCommerce store with NicoChat

To integrate NicoChat with your WooCommerce store, log in to the store and click the WooCommerce tab.

Click Settings > Advanced > REST API tab

Click Add Key

Enter the details and create your API Key.

Save and copy the details.

In NicoChat, click the Integrations tab and then WooCommerce to integrate your store.

WooCommerce native triggers

WooCommerce integrates natively with NicoChat to provide webhook triggers. These triggers fire whenever an event happens in the WooCommerce store, whether through an API or directly in the store.

WooCommerce supports the following native triggers.

Order Creation

This trigger fires whenever an order is created in the WooCommerce store, whether through an API or directly in the store.

This trigger fires whenever an order is updated in the WooCommerce store, whether through an API or directly in the store itself.

Contact creation through triggers

NicoChat identifies the information that comes in the trigger payload and matches it against the existing contacts. If it finds a match, the flow runs for that contact. If it does not, a contact is created with the information that came in the payload.

If both the email and the phone are available, the contact is created in the Web channel; if only the email is available, the contact is also created in the Web channel. If only the phone is available, the contact is created in the WhatsApp channel.

If the payload does not bring the minimum information required above, the trigger cannot identify or create a contact and therefore does not fire.

Set up the WooCommerce abandoned cart automation to send a WhatsApp message

WooCommerce does not have a native abandoned cart trigger. Even so, with free plugins added to NicoChat, you can build your own abandoned cart flow in just a few steps.

Installing the plugin

After logging in, go to the WooCommerce dashboard and scroll down the page until you see the plugins tab in the left side menu.

Click “Add new plugin” and type “cart” in the search bar. You will see several plugins to choose from; in this documentation we will use Cartflows.

Once installed, refresh the page and go back to the dashboard.

Integrating the plugin with NicoChat

In the dashboard, click the WooCommerce tab and go to Cart abandonment.

Click the Settings tab

From here, we are going to define the trigger settings.

First, set the trigger interval. In this plugin, the lowest possible is 10 minutes.

Also check that the Enable Tracking option is selected.

Scroll down to the webhook settings, turn on the Enable webhook option and paste into the URL field below the inbound webhook that you can create inside NicoChat:

Click the trigger sample to check that you are receiving the payload. Once done, scroll down and click “Save Changes”.

Placing an order and abandoning the cart

Go to your WooCommerce store, add a product to the cart, proceed to checkout and leave the page after filling in the billing details.

Do not complete the order. Since we set the trigger to fire after 10 minutes, we will not wait 10 minutes to receive the payload in our inbound webhook inside NicoChat.

Inbound webhook setup

In NicoChat, go to Tools and Webhook and click Edit next to the webhook you chose for the abandoned cart setup.

Wait 10 minutes and click “Listen to the Payload Data”.

Click Done and preview the payload. Map all the necessary values from the payload received.

Note

Check that the phone number is in the correct format and includes the country code; otherwise there will be problems. The format can be set in WooCommerce itself, and you can also use Data Preprocessing to format it manually with JavaScript code.

Once done, connect the webhook to the flow of your choosing.

Setting up the flow

Go to Content and then WhatsApp Templates. Check that you have a template for abandoned carts; if you do not, create one in NicoChat and get it approved.

Go to the flow builder and set up the template like this:

That's it, everything is set up. You can build and abandon another cart to test the flow.
